Redesigning Information Architecture Across Four User Roles Lifted Usability by 20%

A digital health platform delivering personalized lab and test recommendations needed an interface that worked for four very different users at once. Mindbowser rebuilt the information architecture around each role, backed it with 50+ wireframes, and validated it through four rounds of user testing before it shipped.

The Problem

One Interface Was Trying to Serve Four Different Jobs

The platform's complex interface made it hard for healthcare providers to navigate and use the system efficiently, and that friction sat directly on top of a clinical function: getting accurate, personalized test recommendations in front of the right person quickly.

01
No information architecture for four different roles

Super Admin, Hospital Admin, Individual Practitioner, and Invited Practitioner each needed a different view, and the interface didn't distinguish between them.

02
Test guidelines had to be usable, not just correct

Getting the clinical logic right wasn't enough on its own. The guidelines had to work for a diverse set of healthcare professionals, not just pass a technical review.

03
Navigation friction slowed real clinical moments

A system that buries correct logic behind confusing navigation still fails the provider trying to use it during a real patient interaction.

What We Built

Four Roles, One Coherent System

Role-Specific Information Architecture

Instead of one generic interface, the system was redesigned around four distinct roles, each with the controls and views relevant to how they actually use the platform.

  • Super Admin: system-wide settings, permissions, integrations, activity monitoring, and compliance audit support
  • Hospital Admin: account management, analytics access, and a system-configuration overview built for day-to-day use
  • Individual Practitioner: a user-centric view for reviewing patient data, collaborating with colleagues, and tracking progress, without admin-level controls
  • Invited Practitioner: a dedicated onboarding path with personalized setup steps and preference configuration
