A free, HIPAA-compliant telemedicine platform was live and growing faster than its infrastructure. Two senior developers fixed what demand was straining, built a native iOS app with consent captured inside the visit, and added analytics and in-app support, all inside a one-month release window.
Talk to UsA free, HIPAA-compliant telemedicine platform where clinicians meet patients through a personalized room URL
Bug fixes, performance work, native iOS app, push and deep linking, analytics, in-app support
Ionic, WebRTC/TokBox, Mixpanel, Intercom, deep linking
Delivered in 21 days. Mindbowser continues as long-term development partner.
A small senior team working in the client's existing workflow shipped the iOS app, analytics, in-app support, and bug fixes without cutting the testing layer. Mindbowser stayed on as the long-term development partner after the acceleration phase closed.
To deliver the full required feature set, meeting the client's one-month release deadline
Senior developers, backed by a dedicated testing layer, working directly from the client's Trello board
The platform was built in Ionic and it worked. Then demand exposed where performance and scalability hadn't kept up. The client needed bug fixes and a slate of new features, including a native iOS app, inside one month, on a product clinicians were already using for real visits.
Performance and scalability work had to land without downtime for the clinicians and patients already depending on it.
HIPAA authorization and BAA requirements apply in full to telehealth. The new iOS app needed teleconsent embedded in the WebRTC/TokBox session, not a separate step before or after it.
Standard SMS isn't HIPAA compliant, so in-app messaging had to run on its own compliant chat layer.
There was no analytics layer, no view of how people used the product, and no way to measure retention. Push notifications and deep linking also weren't supporting a quality user experience.
Ionic on the existing platform, WebRTC and TokBox for native iOS video, Mixpanel for analytics, Intercom for in-app support, plus dynamic and deep linking across web and app.
No separate backlog and no ramp-up on a new process. The team took issues one at a time straight from the client's Trello board, with a testing layer running alongside the build so quality checks never became the bottleneck on a one-month deadline.
The iOS app runs on WebRTC and TokBox. Teleconsent is part of the session flow itself, so informed consent is captured during the clinical visit rather than before or after it. It was part of the build from day one, not patched in later.
As the platform grew, useful features were getting buried. Horizontal navigation support now puts them in reach without digging through menus. Push notifications were rebuilt to deliver timely, relevant information, and dynamic and deep linking make web and app behave as one product.
The platform had no analytics layer. Mixpanel now gives the client custom reports on user interaction and retention. An Intercom integration, backed by a knowledge base and help desk, lets users get answers without leaving the app.
