The platform had clinical conviction. It needed an architecture built for hospital-scale, multi-role adoption.
The early build had no separation between network-level super administrators and providers working with active patients, and no central interface for managing hospitals and practitioners at scale.
Asking clinicians to remember a separate username and password on top of Epic credentials and other hospital tools would cause immediate drop-off. The platform needed to authenticate through Epic itself.
A platform handling patient delivery and newborn data requires multi-factor authentication, but MFA had to work cleanly with Epic SSO without adding friction to the login flow.
A new shift gives a clinician minutes before patients need attention. A platform that takes 20 minutes to explain becomes a dashboard teams have but do not use.

Hospital network administrators use the Super Admin Portal to onboard new hospitals, manage practitioners and staff across the system, and assign hospitals to third-party practices. Azure Active Directory handles authentication and authorization at the network level, with a Global Administrator cascading scoped invites to other admins.
The Provider Portal has two views. My Practice shows the full patient roster for situational awareness and handoff prep. My Dashboard zooms into a clinician's own active cases in real time: predicted delivery timelines, current status, and flagged risks on one screen. Patient records pull MRN data automatically from the connected EHR, removing the manual entry step that slows a first login.
Authentication runs through Azure Active Directory across both portals. Clinicians sign in with their existing Epic credentials: no new username, no new password, no additional cognitive load. Multi-factor authentication via Azure ID management integrates with hospital identity systems without adding friction to the SSO flow.
The four-minute onboarding was an engineering constraint, not a nice-to-have. A structured on-demand microlearning system breaks the platform into pieces under one minute each. Workflows follow the order clinicians naturally work through a patient: overview, status, predictions, actions, with buttons labeled in clinical language rather than technical jargon.
