±12-Minute Delivery Predictions, 76% Fewer Coding Denials Across a 7-Hospital Network

A board-certified OB-GYN built an AI decision support platform that lives inside Epic workflows, replacing whiteboards and verbal handoffs with real-time predictions and automated documentation. We built the clinical platform, the bidirectional Epic integration, the AI prediction engine, and the full HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance program.

The Problem

Data That Existed but Never Worked as an Asset

Every Labor & Delivery unit generates the data needed to predict delivery timing and plan staffing. In most hospitals, that data sits scattered across EHR systems, whiteboard trackers, and verbal shift reports, too slow to act on.

01
Patient status lived on whiteboards

Shift handoffs happened verbally, and information got lost between the outgoing and incoming nurse.

02
Delivery timing ran on judgment calls

Experienced clinicians estimated timing under time pressure, with no predictive model behind the estimate.

03
Documentation happened manually, after the shift

ICD-10 and CPT coding done at the end of an exhausting shift missed codes, and missed codes meant denied claims.

04
Staffing decisions had no predictive backing

Units were overstaffed on slow days and understaffed when volume spiked, with no forecast to plan against.

The Tech Stack

The platform runs on a SMART on FHIR integration layer, AWS-hosted prediction models, and an Azure-authenticated portal architecture.

What We Built

Four Systems, Built and Deployed in Sequence

A Two-Portal Architecture That Matches How Hospitals Are Structured

The Super Admin Portal gives hospital network administrators a centralized dashboard to onboard hospitals, manage practitioners, control role-based access, and assign hospitals to third-party practices. The Provider Portal is where physicians and nurses work, with a practice-level roster view and a real-time personal dashboard. Authentication runs through Azure Active Directory across both portals.

  • Super Admin Portal for network-wide hospital and practitioner management
  • Provider Portal with My Practice and My Dashboard views
  • Epic SSO through Azure Active Directory, no separate login
  • First login to active use in under four minutes
