A proactive health platform needed one place to unify Apple HealthKit and multiple wearable devices, connect patients with their medical team in real time, and support community engagement, without fragmenting the experience across apps. We built the platform end to end: authentication, in-app medical messaging, multi-device health data integration, a personalized content feed, and a social forum.

The platform replaces fragmented, single-purpose apps with one unified experience for data, communication, and community.
Consumer health apps collected wearable data. Clinical platforms connected patients with providers. No product did both in one place for users focused on longevity and proactive care.
Data from an Oura Ring, a Withings scale, and a Dexcom glucose monitor lived in separate apps, with no shared view and no connection to a medical team that could interpret what it meant.
Messaging with a medical team meant leaving the app, switching platforms, or waiting for a scheduled visit, latency that defeats the purpose for patients tracking vitals continuously.
Different wearable devices use different APIs, authentication flows, and data schemas, making real-time aggregation harder than it looks. The social forum also needed to sit alongside clinical data without exposing it.
The platform combines managed authentication, real-time messaging, and OAuth-based device integrations behind one unified health record.
We implemented AWS Amplify for secure authentication across the platform, with biometric login (fingerprint and facial recognition) as the default access method. On top of that, we integrated Twilio to build a dedicated in-app chat connecting patients directly with their medical team.
Apple HealthKit centralizes activity, heart rate, and sleep data for Apple device users, syncing directly from the device. For third-party wearables, we integrated Oura Ring, Withings, and Dexcom using OAuth and PKCE, the industry-standard protocol for secure, authorized access to device APIs.
We built a health content feed using RSS, delivering articles, news, and tips personalized to each user's health data and stated interests. Alongside it, the Amity SDK powers a social forum where users connect around shared health goals, kept separate from clinical and personal health data.
Each wearable device brings a different API, data schema, and authentication requirement. We built the aggregation layer to handle concurrent data streams with minimal latency and consistent structure, and designed the architecture with caching, query optimization, and load balancing from the outset.
