A missed or delayed alert defeats the purpose of a hot car safety product, so the app had to get device pairing, proximity sensing, and escalation right from the first use.
No simple, sensor-based consumer app existed to warn parents in the moment they were about to leave a child in the car.

The app connects to the sensor hardware over Bluetooth/BLE and pairs automatically the moment a child is seated, with no manual setup required at each use.
The app triggers an alarm the moment a parent's phone moves more than 5 feet from the device, using continuous Bluetooth proximity sensing to catch the risk in the moment it happens.
If the alarm goes unacknowledged for more than 10 minutes, the app sends automated SMS alerts to emergency contacts. Battery status notifications fire when the device drops below 20%, so the sensor doesn't fail silently.
The companion app is a native Swift build on Xcode 11, with a Firebase-backed data layer handling app state and notifications.
