We built the Epic connector that lets an AI scheduling agent search patients, check open appointment slots, and book appointments directly inside a hospital's Epic environment. The work now stands ready to support a hospital proof of concept.
Talk to UsA venture-backed AI health company building AI agents for hospital operations, including a patient-scheduling agent.
Epic connector for patient search, appointment slot lookup, and appointment booking, built for a hospital proof-of-concept evaluation.
Node.js, Epic FHIR APIs
Proof-of-concept on hold, pending changes on the client's engineering team
No hospital proof of concept has run yet, so results are capability outcomes rather than measured figures.
An EHR integration gap was a blocker on a live hospital deal, not a backlog item. The target evaluation required a working proof of concept before any hospital would let clinical staff test the system.
Clinical staff would not evaluate the scheduling agent without a working Epic proof of concept in hand first.
Finding a patient record, checking open appointment slots, and writing a confirmed booking back into Epic, all without pulling hospital staff out of their existing Epic workflow.
Built on Node.js against Epic's FHIR APIs.
The connector lets the scheduling agent find a patient record inside a hospital's Epic environment, the first of three actions the agent needs to book an appointment on the hospital's behalf.
The agent checks what appointment slots are actually open against the Epic calendar, rather than working from a static schedule.
Once a slot is confirmed, the connector writes the booking directly back into Epic on the agent's behalf, without requiring hospital staff to leave their existing Epic workflow.
