Mindbowser built the iOS app, Android app, and web admin backend for a social video and photo competition platform, including the GPU-accelerated filtering, watch-time-based vote integrity, and auto-scaling HLS streaming infrastructure behind it. No comparable platform existed to build from at the time.

The build started without a close product precedent, and each layer of the platform surfaced its own technical constraint.
No platform combined user-generated video and photo competitions with real-time voting and brand participation at the time, so there was no comparable product to build from.
Applying filters to video is far more processing-intensive than applying them to static images, and filters needed to render quickly at upload without slowing the pipeline down.
The voting mechanic required a user to watch at least one-third of a video before their vote counted, which meant building event-level tracking into Apple's video player rather than relying on a simple watched or not-watched flag.
High-volume video uploads and streaming needed infrastructure that could scale without degrading playback for viewers.
Because the platform was open to user-generated content, it needed a real moderation system to handle abusive or flagged videos.
A native iOS and Android front end backed by GPU-accelerated video processing and auto-scaling HLS streaming infrastructure.
Mindbowser designed and built the iOS app, Android app, and web admin backend end to end, matching the youth-oriented visual identity the client wanted and giving the admin team visibility into platform activity.
Video filtering is far more processing-intensive than filtering static images, and the voting mechanic depended on knowing exactly how much of a video a user had actually watched.
High-volume video uploads and streaming needed infrastructure that could scale without degrading playback for viewers.
Because any user could upload content to a public competition, admins needed a direct way to review and act on abusive or flagged videos.
